The University of Victoria is diverse and many in our community have ties to Iran, Israel and Palestine. As the growing international conflict and humanitarian crises continue in these regions, we know that many of you are hurting, angry, fearful and concerned for the safety of your loved ones.
To those who have family and loved ones in the region or are from the region themselves, our thoughts are with you. We hope that you are safe and cared for during these unimaginably difficult times.
This is an important time for our community to come together to listen to one another and be respectful of each other. Please show each other care and hold space for differing perspectives and experiences.
If you are affected by these events, we encourage you to reach out. The university offers a range of resources and supports.
Please be kind to yourself and each other during these challenging times.
