Kate Moran’s current term as Ocean Networks Canada’s (ONC) president and CEO concludes on June 30, 2026. The ONC Board has appointed Jay Cullen, UVic’s director of the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences (SEOS), as interim president and CEO effective July 1, 2026. ONC’s international search for a new president and CEO will soon be underway.
A chemical oceanographer and longtime UVic faculty member, Cullen brings deep expertise in ocean science, a strong record of academic leadership, and experience leading major research collaborations across universities, government, and other partners.
UVic congratulates Jay on this exciting new opportunity, and we thank Kate for her leadership and the contributions during her 14-year tenure that have propelled Ocean Networks Canada into one of Canada’s largest major research facilities.
We look forward to welcoming Kate back to UVic’s Faculty of Science.
