The University of Victoria (UVic) has been named one of BC’s Top Employers for the fifth year in a row, recognizing our role as an industry leader in offering an exceptional place to work.
The competition recognizes the top 100+ employers in each province or region. Each year, the competition’s editors evaluate organizations based on key criteria, highlighting the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. UVic was among six universities in BC to be honoured.
Some of the reasons UVic was selected as one of BC’s Top Employers (2026) include:
- University of Victoria makes the commute to work a little easier with transit subsidies and a carpool sign-up program—the campus also features new pathways for cyclists and pedestrians and offers bicycle lockers and shower facilities in some buildings
- Employees at the University of Victoria can enjoy a variety of dining options and take advantage of subsidized memberships to its on-site fitness facilities, featuring tennis, squash and badminton courts, a climbing centre, wheelchair sports, soccer for visually impaired players, and a multi-purpose field house and sports therapy clinic
- University of Victoria encourages employees to continue their education with tuition subsidies for courses related and not directly related to their current position—a number of in-house training initiatives are also offered, including mentoring and leadership development programs

BC’s Top Employers are chosen by Mediacorp Canada Inc., which also coordinates the annual competitions for Canada’s Top 100 Employers, Top Diversity Employers and Canada’s Greenest Employers. UVic has been recognized as a Best Diversity Employer for 13 years in a row and as a Greenest Employer ten times.
