Home / Campus & community / Flags lowered for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

From Sept. 29 – 30, the UVic flags will be lowered to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. On these days, we pause, reflect and honour the children and survivors of residential schools, and acknowledge the lasting impacts that are felt to this day by their families and communities. The Survivors Flag will remain at full mast in recognition of the strength and resilience of Indigenous Peoples. UVic will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 30 in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The campus community is invited to participate in public events on Monday, Sept. 29 to acknowledge Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Please join us in the Quad between 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
